I had the honor speaking on text analytics in the law last week at I Congresso Internacional de Direito e Tecnologia, the first international conference on law and technology to be held in Brazil. The conference was a smashing success, with something like 700 attorneys, judges, technologists, students, and corporate executives attending. I was blown away with the quality of conference and presentations, and awed by what I learned about size and richness of the Brazilian legal system. The technical content was mostly on AI, with a good helping of blockchain. I learned a lot, and made some new friends. Many thanks to Ricardo Fernandes for the invitation to speak, and to Yan Teixeira, Sophia Reis Carneiro, Jaina Barreto, and the rest of the conference team for making my visit so enjoyable.
